"It felt great to get out of my comfort zone and really explore deep into a remote location."The Elaho River Valley is a 70 km river that begins in the Coast Mountains northwest above Whistler and Pemberton, British Columbia, and feeds to the Squamish River. For this adventure, I took an overnight backpacking trip into the deep remote areas of the Elaho Valley. I logged over 40 km on logging roads with the final stretch including steep inclines rocky terrain, and deep cross ditches.
Upon hiking in, wildflowers blanketed the path ahead. It was one incredible view after another, with lakes surrounding the entire area with layers of mountains completing the perfect backdrop.
These photos capture the contours of the Elaho Valley in fluid strokes. The combination of bright greens of the flora, the deep blue of the inky lakes, and the snowy ice-capped mountains wrapping everything together. The vibrancy of the different colors creates a natural pop in the landscape.
Enjoy these unforgettable scenes from a backpacking trip I’ve been looking forward to for a while. This was a brand-new location for me and farther from where I normally shoot photos. It felt great to get out of my comfort zone and really explore deep into a remote location. The views did not disappoint and were well worth the hike.
